The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) will be hosting the fifth edition of the annual #JSESheInvests event, an initiative that aims to promote financial literacy among women to empower and support them on their investment journey. This year's event will focus on equipping women with the tools and knowledge to build financial wealth and more importantly, protect their investments and estates to pass them down as intended.

The much anticipated #JSESheInvests will take place on Saturday,12 August and has an exciting lineup of keynote speakers, panel discussions, giveaways and so much more. The programme features prominent speakers including the JSE Group CEO, Leila Fourie; Military Pilot, Major Mandisa Mfeka; Luxury Wedding Planner and Event Designer, Precious the Planner (Precious Thamaga-Mazibuko);author, journalist and TV presenter, Maya Fisher-French and many more experts from various fields, all geared towards empowering women on their investment journey.

“As a key player in the economy, the  JSE believes that promoting financial literacy is a key contributor towards ensuring diversity within the investor community and achieving economic inclusion. We remain committed to educating and emboldening women to take charge of their investment journeys,” says Vuyo Lee, Director: Marketing and Corporate Affairs at the JSE. “Through #JSESheInvests, we aim to make investing on the stock exchange accessible and easy to understand.”

In South Africa, approximately 7.6 million households in the country are female-headed. This places a significant responsibility on women to not only provide financial means for their families but also to care for children and manage households. Despite global efforts towards gender equality and women's empowerment, investment literacy and female participation in financial sectors still lag.

Recognising this crucial need to bridge the investment gap, the #JSESheInvests will provide engaging content, expert insights and practical solutions to educate South African women about financial literacy, investment strategies and the paramount importance of economic inclusion. By equipping women with the knowledge and confidence to make informed investment decisions, they will feel confident to take control of their finances and secure wealth for themselves and future generations.
